What this is about
Scammers build their emails from a handful of parts. Here you pick them yourself: whom to pretend to be, which lever, which sender and which link. Then you see your email — and how a careful reader would catch it. Nothing is sent.
What you practise
Understand the scammers' levers from the inside and know the check that matches each one.
The interactive exercise needs JavaScript. Without it, you can read through all messages with their explanations here.
Time pressure: “suspended in 24 hours”
Spot the time pressure: a genuine company gives you time. The more urgent an email, the more calmly you check.
Fear: “unusual sign-in”
Spot the fear: check a warning in the app or at an address you type yourself — never through the link in the warning.
Reward: “£50 credit”
Spot the promised reward: unexpected gifts that are valid “today only” are bait. Genuine vouchers also appear in your account.
All companies, people, addresses and numbers in the exercises are invented. Any resemblance to real companies or people would be purely coincidental and unintended.
